of him shall much be required." John 12:48
About the Artist
My life in art is a journey of faith.
I wanted to be an art teacher when I was little and have always been involved in one creative project after another. But, driven by practicality and the unsurpressable need to overthink things, I majored in English, and taught for 15 years. When the demands of state testing and the changing academic climate exacted too great a toll on myself and my family, I knew I had to do something.
I had some formal training in art, so with some supplementary work at the Philladelphia Museum of Art, I passed the Praxis. I earned an MA in Art Education at Edinboro, participated in as many studio opportunities as possible, got an article published on assessing reading comprehension through art, had a gallery showing, and put together a portfolio. When an art teacher at our school retired in 2012, the lack of school funding made someone with a dual certificate an attractive fit. I've been living the dream ever since.
The series of fortunate events which led me here can not be mistaken for chance. I am convinced that God has inexplicably and lavishly blessed me, and all that I do in my life, and especially with my art, should clearly communicate my gratitude.
Circumnavigation, my collection of poetry, was published in 2008. I published Sing Out, a faith-based anecdotal collection written to inspire young women dealing with eating disorders and depression. Copies of either text may be obtained from me via email, and Amazon.
I also write worship music! Please visit my Soundcloud account at TLS Holdren for a collection of original recorded worship, as well as some beloved favorites from other artists.
